A Place To Connect

A little over a week ago, we concluded our series titled, "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" In that series, we really focused on what it meant to love and accept people. We applied it not only to our daily lives, but we examined what it would look like at Eagle Pointe. It has been so awesome to watch that begin to be lived out with people getting out of their comfort zone and begin to make new friends. Last night, we had the opportunity to have dinner at McAlister's with a couple of new families at the church and just hang out. It was a blast just getting to know each other better and hear every one's story. Connecting with God and connecting with people is really what life is all about.

A Crazy Two Weeks

The last two weeks have been a blur of crazy activity, but through it all I have had a total blast. Here are a few of the highlights:

ARC Conference - On April 14th, I went to the national ARC Conference held in Birmingham, Alabama. ARC is an amazing network that started in 2001 with the soul purpose of planting 2,000 relevant, life-giving churches all across the United States by the year 2020. The impact and growth of these churches is simply remarkable, and I am proud to say that Eagle Pointe is now partnering with them and a part of the ARC family. The speakers at the conference and the overall content was incredible, but all the new friends I met were even better.

Growth of the Church - The last two Sundays have been record days in attendance, but the thing that excites me most is those who have given their life to Christ. I have been blown away by all the new families that are connecting at Eagle Pointe and all the new friends we have.

Launch of the Young Couples Life Group - I knew when we came to Denton to pastor that we needed to make creating healthy marriages a top priority, so I couldn't wait for the start of this life group. The teaching on DVD has been awesome, but the transparency and the support of the couples have made it better than I could've ever imagined. I can't wait for the day when we have life groups meeting all over the city.

Watching Golf at the Byron Nelson - Friday I got hooked up with tickets to watch some professional golf in Las Colinas. The weather was perfect, and the golf was unbelievable. The pros make me sick with how easy they make it look, but none the less Cash, Rob, and I had a blast watching!

Church Work Day - Today we met at the church to work on landscaping and trim some of the trees. It was just so cool to see everyone work so hard as a team and take such pride in the church.

After these last two, I can't wait see what the next two weeks bring!

Scoring Some Sweet Tickets To Supercross

Sometimes it just helps to know somebody, or in my case to know somebody that knows somebody. Last Saturday night, my son and I were invited to go watch the Monster Supercross races at Texas Stadium with my cousin Jimmy and his son. We had a total blast!! Jimmy received these tickets through one of his former students from his youth group who now travels and works for the Monster Drinks Supercross Series that travels all over the country. When we arrived, we found out we were sitting on the sixth row, and we got to actually go down on the track and get on the course! This pic was taken on the track itself obviously right past the finish line. It was awesome. My son about lost his mind with excitement. He not only saw some great races, but he got 6 pages of autographs from the riders who actually would sit in our section before and after their own event. It was an awesome male-bonding night for the Norris men.

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Who can't appreciate the greatness of Mr. Rogers? I will admit that he wasn't the most masculine guy or the best singer, but you can't deny those smokin sweaters! Seriously, Mr. Rogers was on TV for over 34 years, and his focus was teaching kids morals and kindness which he did with excellence. There was a definite goal & point of the opening song, "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" In the Bible, Jesus gives us the second greatest commandment of "Love your neighbor as yourself", and in much the same way he has a very distinct goal for us as well. I want to invite you to join us this Sunday as we begin this exciting new series where we explore what it really means to love people and the amazing results when we do.
